Audience effects theory

1) passive audience-the idea of a passive audience is that they are being brain washed and that they believe everything the media is telling them.

2)active audience -an active audience is an audience that doesn't believe every thing they are told but interact with the media.

3)the hypodermic needle theory is the theory that we are brain washed by the media and that we believe everything that is being told to a audience.

4)information/surveillance-dragon's den e.g gives you information about how to run a business or how to start one and how money works

personal identity-stranger things e.g it allows you to connect with the characters and it connects with teenagers because they see a sense of personal identity compared to their own lves.

diversion/entertainment-love island e.g it allows for escapism from the real world and it is entertainment because after a long day at work you go home and sit down and watch TV.

relationships-Ant and Dec e.g they win the people's choice award every year showing that the british community have a personal relationship with ant and Dec on the TV.

5)in the blue planet 2 advert the their are elements of pleasures and gratifications because people would watch this type of show to gain information about the world around us and also for entertainment because they can sit in their living room and have an adventure with these animals.we also get a voyeuristic pleasure and a calming feeling from the music in the video at 0.38 seconds which allows the audience to feel at ease and relaxed.we get another element of uses and gratifications from relationships because for older people who are watching this they get a personal identity and relationship towards sir David Attenborough because they would have watched this man's whole career until this day.
