Mise-en-scene Stranger Things analysis

Three questions 

 1.The meaning for each of the clamps is c,costume,l,lighting and colour,a,actor placement/movement,s,setting and props.

2.Stranger Things is a drama,fantasy and horror TV show

3.Costume

The costume of the characters in stranger things for example the 1980's t-shirts and jumpers also the typical lab coat on the man in the begin signify's that this is a scientist.Also the costume of the dad in a vest shows that this is a 1980's dad.The connotation of the lab coat could mean that the man was running some tests but ended up going wrong hence why he was running away from a creature in the start of the video.

Lighting

The flickering light throughout the whole video in the garage,elevator,the bike light,lab,bulb is very important for the show because when ever the flickering starts it means that the creature is around and when i goes really bright we know or signify's hat the creature has caught his victim.Also the dark shadows show a sense of horror and darkness.the connotation for this could mean that the lighting for the show is important because it will tell the audience that something is about to happen

Setting

We know the show is set in the 1980's because it has those 1980's bikes, also the warning signs of government laboratory,the board game they were playing dungeon and dragons,land lines and brick phones.They all signify where and time the show is in.the connotation of this could mean that because in these time periods scary things happened so the probably picked that time period for that reason of horror.

Magazines blog assessment

 1)A magazine convention is what we commonly see on a magazine. For example we see a key convention in the Tatler magazine which is cover lines on the bottom of the central image in bold which is their for us to get an idea of the magazine. 2)The front cover of the Tatler magazine uses media language to appeal to their target audience because they denotate that they are talking about high end things for example when they say 'she looks good in pearls' showing the literal meaning that they cater to people who are more wealthy. they also use use a colour scheme which is constant throughout the whole magazine and is a simple colour scheme of gold and pink and also have a serif fonts on their letters.it also gives identification and it looks appealing as well. The also use demographics in the magazine because they catering to a specific group of people which is the upper class people. Doctor who:language and representation

social and historical context 1)An unearthly child reflects the social and historical contexts of the 1960's by the typical way of how men where shown to have more power and status over women and we see this with when the doctor completely ignores what Barbra wright says to him. 2)Audiences might react in a way where they may be scared at least for a lower class background or a audience may be confused and may not understand what science fiction is. Language and close-textual analysis 1)The Tardis scene where the doctor and the teachers are trapped are trying to find a way out but the doctor still seems to be a cunning and evil villain. In this scene we see lots of narrative in this scene wit the use of the Todorov-equilibrium theory the mystery of where Susan lived.Also the disequilibrium is now provided with the teachers being trapped.
