WWW: What an excellent start to GCSE Media – well done! You are fully up-to-date with your blog and there is already a good standard of work. Your Denotation and Connotation work and your Stranger Things analysis both contain some good depth and detail to your analysis. This is essential for reaching the top grades in Media. I’m delighted you are aiming for a 7+ grade and completely agree that should be our target. The challenge now is making sure that analytical depth and detail is consistent across all of the work that we do. Finally, your fantastic fruit bowl demonstrates your creative and design skills which will be important for the 30% coursework aspect in Year 2.

 EBI: A couple of your blog pieces lack a little detail (e.g. your key concept film poster analysis or your latest camerawork and editing analysis). Try and write about a range of possible meanings being communicated to the audience – this will add depth to your analysis. Reflect on your first month of Media. What do you feel is your strongest piece of work so far? What is your weakest? What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop over the rest of the course? How can you improve the depth and detail of your media analysis?

1.I believe that my strongest piece of work so far is the stranger things analysis  and i believe my weakest was my key concepts because i could go into more detail with how people are represented and go into more analysis with how the audience is shown.

specific skills and knowledge i believe i could develop on is my knowledge on what the audience like and why they like or are attracted to those things in the media and also how the media industries use specific techniques to attract audiences

I could improve my depth and detail by using the connotation the deeper meaning of how the audience are attracted to this and how language is used to present a specific group of people in the media.

I believe my first month of media has been a good month but i can improve my skills for things like long extended high mark questions.also by revising the key glossary words

 1)Total mark:14   Grade:3 WWW-question 1.3 shows what you are capable of-not far off the top level.if you can reach that level of consistency you will make real progress. EBI- revision revise intertextuality and narrative theory. -Q2 is the major weakness:you need much more for a 20-mark essay.focus on the question and give detailed example from the csps. 2) intertextuality is when a media text references another media text. 3)narrative features are used to communicate meaning with camera work when Aprils eyes glow a bright colour through out  the episode.also the sound which is non-digetic music in the scene with April attacking her father and it means the audience can hear it but the actors can't creating tension. Narrative features also communicate meaning with mise-en-scene and props with April's knives which communicate to the audience that something dangerous is going to happen or a fight is going to happen. 4)

Magazines blog assessment

 1)A magazine convention is what we commonly see on a magazine. For example we see a key convention in the Tatler magazine which is cover lines on the bottom of the central image in bold which is their for us to get an idea of the magazine. 2)The front cover of the Tatler magazine uses media language to appeal to their target audience because they denotate that they are talking about high end things for example when they say 'she looks good in pearls' showing the literal meaning that they cater to people who are more wealthy. they also use use a colour scheme which is constant throughout the whole magazine and is a simple colour scheme of gold and pink and also have a serif fonts on their letters.it also gives identification and it looks appealing as well. The also use demographics in the magazine because they catering to a specific group of people which is the upper class people. Doctor who:language and representation

social and historical context 1)An unearthly child reflects the social and historical contexts of the 1960's by the typical way of how men where shown to have more power and status over women and we see this with when the doctor completely ignores what Barbra wright says to him. 2)Audiences might react in a way where they may be scared at least for a lower class background or a audience may be confused and may not understand what science fiction is. Language and close-textual analysis 1)The Tardis scene where the doctor and the teachers are trapped are trying to find a way out but the doctor still seems to be a cunning and evil villain. In this scene we see lots of narrative in this scene wit the use of the Todorov-equilibrium theory the mystery of where Susan lived.Also the disequilibrium is now provided with the teachers being trapped. Also in the first scene we learn a lot about the characters and their morals with Susan Foreman dressed like a typical teenage girl in the 1960
